Thesis in three final video highlights on YouTube

CLARITY co-ordinated the Thesis in Three event in the Mansion House on the 9th November 2011 as part of Innovation Dublin. 25 speakers from the 9 CSETs gave an overview of their research in three slides in three minutes to a lay audience.

CLARITY research at the heart of sport

CLARITY researchers based in Tyndall National Institute have developed a matchbox-sized sensor which can decode a golf swing, measure the G-force of a rugby tackle, the speed of an archery arrow or the precise movements of a tennis ace.
The research, being carried out by Brendan O'Flynn and colleagues will benefit both fitness and health professionals in the field of physiotherapy.

CLARITY DCU at leading edge of lifelogging research

Cathal GurrinDCU this week hosted a TV film crew from the Discovery Channel who were visiting CLARITY to record scenes and to interview Dr Cathal Gurrin (CLARITY Collaborator and School of Computing Lecturer) for series 3 of a show entitled ‘Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman’. Through the Wormhole is an US science documentary television series narrated by US actor Morgan Freeman. Through the Wormhole brings together the brightest minds and best ideas from the world of science to discuss new groundbreaking technologies. The show regularly features the "Rock Stars of Science", such as Michio Kaku and Brian Cox. Series 3 of Through the Wormhole will be aired in mid 2012.

CLARITY Performs in TREC Microblog Results

CLARITY researchers participating in the annual benchmarking task for microblog (Twitter) search achieved a very commendable performance in the new Microblog Track at this year's Text REtrieval Conference (TREC). One of the CLARITY submissions was the third-best performer while another was fifth-best out of a total of almost 200 submissions from nearly 60 research teams.
