Next week CLARITY: Centre for Sensor Web Technologies is hosting the 13th International Workshop on Image Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services (WIAMIS) in DCU, when we will host 50+ delegates from all over the world.
SAVASA project meeting hosted by CLARITY at DCU

30 attendees from 10 companies came to DCU for the 2nd meeting of the SAVASA project. SAVASA (Standards based Approach to Video Archive Search and Analysis) is an EU 7th framework project in the security theme looking to bring together surveillance and security video from different archives to improve search capability across Europe. CLARITY will contribute video analysis, annotation and search within the SAVASA framework.

Alan Smeaton gave a guest lecture on CLARITY's work on lifelogging at the Department of Information and Computer Science, Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland, on 9th May 2012 where he also acted as official opponent in a PhD defense.

The EETimes Extreme Design series features technology where a single design or test objective—not low cost—dominates the engineering challenge. They recently focussed on the CLARITY Velocitip technology where small, high-performance MEMS transducers for acceleration, coupled with other low-power ICs, are enabling data acquisition in applications that would have been considered impossible just a few years ago.
Netwatch invests in CLARITY R&D for long-term international growth

Netwatch, an innovative surveillance technology company, have partnered with a team of researchers, headed by Noel O' Connor, from CLARITY: Centre for Sensor Web Technologies at Dublin City University to develop a new alarm reduction system which uses applied imaging technologies to decipher the alarm images received at the Netwatch Communications Hub.

The Hall of Mirrors Exhibition, that CLARITY is collaborating with artists Cleary and Connolly on, was featured on the 'Why Files' on RTE Two’s Elev8 (replacement for ‘The Den’ for the Irish among you!).
Sam Maguire visits the CLARITY offices

Dublin GAA football fitness guru and CLARITY researcher Prof. Niall Moyna kindly brought over the Sam Maguire Cup on April 23rd to the DCU offices for a few photos with some die hard fans (otherwise known during the day as CLARITY Principle Investigators!). We look forward to posing with it again next year in the UCD offices, before the rebels in Tyndall get their hands on it!
CLARITY researcher gives talk at Stanford University

CLARITY researcher Aiden Doherty recently gave an invited talk at the Medical School in Stanford University. Aiden gave an overview of current lifelogging/SenseCam research, and discussed how in future these technologies can be used to persuade people make more healthy lifestyle choices.
